Land clearing is the process of removing trees, brush, stumps, and vegetation from a property to prepare it for construction, agriculture, or improved land use. In central Wisconsin, land clearing methods include forestry mulching, excavation, and traditional cut-and-haul — with forestry mulching being the fastest and most cost-effective for most residential parcels.

What We Do
About Land Clearing
Land clearing is what happens when a property needs more than brush removal. Maybe you have 10 acres of mixed hardwoods that need to come down for a new home site. Maybe a farm field has been idle for 15 years and the treeline crept in 80 feet. We handle full-site clearing across central Wisconsin — everything from the initial tree work to grinding stumps and processing debris.
Our approach depends on the property. Trees under 6-8 inches go through the mulcher. Larger trees get felled with a saw first, then we process the stumps and slash. On sites where the builder needs bare dirt, we remove root balls and grade the surface. On sites where topsoil preservation matters — pasture reclamation, for instance — we mulch in place and leave the soil structure alone. Either way, you end up with ground that is ready for the next step.
Full-site land clearing for properties with heavy timber, overgrown fields, and mixed vegetation that need more than a single-pass mulch job.
Compare Methods
Land clearing vs. forestry mulching — when you need which
Forestry mulching is one tool inside the land clearing toolbox. It works well when the vegetation is mostly brush and trees under 6-8 inches in diameter, and you want the material to stay on the ground as a chip layer.
Full land clearing comes into play when the site has larger timber, when root balls need to come out for foundations, or when the finished surface needs to be graded dirt rather than a mulch layer. Most properties we work on actually use a combination of both — the mulcher handles the underbrush and small trees while larger trees get felled and processed separately.
During the estimate we will walk through which approach makes sense for your specific property and end use. There is no reason to pay for excavation and root removal on a pasture project, and there is no reason to skip it on a building site where the foundation crew needs clean dirt.
